Tunisia - Тунис (07.2003)

A fascinating, but tiring trip as we covered the country from the charming northern Mediterranean town of Sidi Bou Said to the magnificent Sahara in the south.

Tunisia is the most liberal & progressive of all the Arab States. When they attained their independence from France in 1956, 97% of the population were illiterate. Today, 86% are educated. Women have equal rights & are educated. They are justifiably proud that Tunisian Air has 4 female pilots & that they have a higher percentage of women in parliament than most European countries. A beautiful, beguiling country.
