Gardens

We came late to gardening. Neither of us had had gardens growing up but in 2000, inspired by all our Italian neighbors, Rustem decided we'd do a garden at our Watertown, Massachusetts home. Rustem went a bit overboard and, despite our lack of experience, we ended up with over 400 lbs (186 kilos) of tomatoes! Quickly had to learn lots of tomato recipes and how to can them. The next year we were more selective as we concentrated on Heirloom varieties of every color & shape imaginable.

No such opportunities here in Moscow, but we attempt to maintain a flower garden outside our 1st floor apartment.

I love the horizonal crop. Life is about perception. "I think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don't notice it." Alice Walker
