Gardens
We came late to gardening. Neither of us had had gardens growing up but in 2000, inspired by all our Italian neighbors, Rustem decided we'd do a garden at our Watertown, Massachusetts home. Rustem went a bit overboard and, despite our lack of experience, we ended up with over 400 lbs (186 kilos) of tomatoes! Quickly had to learn lots of tomato recipes and how to can them. The next year we were more selective as we concentrated on Heirloom varieties of every color & shape imaginable.
No such opportunities here in Moscow, but we attempt to maintain a flower garden outside our 1st floor apartment.

on July 8, 2011Your rose is beautiful but it's sad to hear of your living conditions. We take so much for granted here in the USA. I'm glad that things have improved for you and hope that they continue to do so. Your photographs are amazing.

on July 8, 2011Beautiful shot of the rose Susan, we have large cities here with the same problem and even in the more rural areas people will just throw their trash out of their car instead of taking it home or putting it in the trash..even in parks where it is just a few steps from a trash can. People are the same the world over...some good...some not. I love that you two are being persistant in bringing beauty to your area.
