October Revolution Day

Before the collapse of the USSR, November 7th was a major holiday commemorating the "Great October Revolution", which occurred in October 1917 according to the Julian calendar, but November 7th according to the Gregorian calendar. Some long for the days when the USSR was a superpower providing a stable, predictable existence; others, most notably the young, want to transform Russia's future. (November 7, 2010)
