Project RuSu 365

Not always so successful or interesting, & not always daily, though certainly a reflection of our daily lives - more like pick of the day. Our goal - to share our world and improve our skills. Thanks to all the members of the SmugMug Daily Community for your support and input. Feel free to leave feedback by clicking on 'Add Comment' below. We look forward to hearing your thoughts. The photo of the day will always be in first position. Thank you for looking. - Rustem Safronov & Susan Gilman a.k.a. RuSu. This gallery was started on October 26, 2010.

These Prikamye wooden sculptures date back to the 17th century. The Perm State Museum has a marvelous collection of these religious figures done in a primitive style. They are truly unique & wonderful.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
• Remaining barracks at the Perm 36 Gulag. (RS)

One of the USSR's harshest Gulag camps, Perm 36 is located about 100 kilometers from the city of Perm in the Ural Mountains. Built in 1946, this camp, and others in the region, housed about 150,000 prisoners, approximately one-third of the working population of the region. This barracks housed 250 men, mostly political prisoners.

The camp was closed in 1987 and is now a memorial to Gulag victims.

Not a minute to spare today, so here's one from last weekend's demonstration. Already feeling a bit stressed about keeping up with a shot a day. Don't know how so many of you manage to do it.
Thanks for all your comments on the pot roast - guess, a lot of people really like pot roast :-) Have a great Sunday.
  • Beef isn't very good here, so if you want something chewable, pot roast it is. I'm not a pot roast lover, but Rustem likes it - says it reminds him of kindergarten food - exactly why I dislike it. I'm a carnivore, however, so do make the occasional pot roast. Here's one about to go into the oven. Back to the States next month where my diet will consist of steak, steak & more steak.

Good exposure and interesting subject matter! Wish the black bag wasn't in the BG. Thestatue & red star, with just the blue chips would have made a huge difference...IMO ;-)
Welcome to this community!! Glad you took the plunge! I'm enjoying my third year, although I'm posting more occasionally now, rather than daily....only because of time constraints!
This is an awesome community! I've gained much here: some wonderful new friends, knowledge & perspective of the world, and certainly have added to my skills photographically, because of information shared by members. Hang in there....you will be stretched!

Very interesting collection of items for sale. I like the man statue. The blue wood chips - haven't seen them before, but they do make a good background. Agree - probably not a good idea for a city to do. Thanks for your kind comments on my photos, your's are just super too!!!!!!!

Blue chips? Really? Hmmmm... I like the comp of your shot, and at least they work well as the backdrop.

Nice find, looks bizarre with the red star. I agree, those blue wood chips are awful ;-)
