The Perm State Museum has a marvelous collection of these religious figures done in a primitive style.   • Blast off! Russian rocket engine being tested at Proton-PM. Watching this test from close range was quite the thrill - really impossible to capture the enormity of it. <br /> <br /> Proton-PM is the organization responsible for launching the main modules of the International Space Station. Built in 1946, this camp, and others in the region, housed about 150,000 prisoners, approximately one-third of the working population of the region. This barracks housed 250 men, mostly political prisoners.<br /> <br /> The camp was closed in 1987 and is now a memorial to Gulag victims.

  • Beef isn't very good here, so if you want something chewable, pot roast it is. I'm not a pot roast lover, but Rustem likes it - says it reminds him of kindergarten food - exactly why I dislike it. I'm a carnivore, however, so do make the occasional pot roast. Here's one about to go into the oven. Back to the States next month where my diet will consist of steak, steak & more steak.
